With operations in Australia, America, Canada, and Europe, Swick is known for its strong engineering capability, focus on safety and productivity, and commitment to innovation.

By continually investing in modern technology and operator focused innovation, Swick reinforces its position as a forward-thinking leader in the industry, focused on delivering high quality outcomes for both clients and crews. With a focus on innovation, Swick reinforces its position as a forward thinking leader in the industry, delivering high quality outcomes for both clients and crews.

The challenge

Swick’s adoption of Krux delivered clear strategic potential, but the journey was not without its challenges. Early usability and workflow trials highlighted the need for more customized workflows.

Rather than working around these challenges, both the Swick and Krux teams worked closely together to refine the workflow and ensure it aligned with the realities of Swick’s clients and their drilling operations.

The solution

Through active collaboration between Swick and Krux—the workflows were enhanced to meet Swick’s operational needs.

A key outcome of this collaboration was the development of the Advanced Core Recovery Calculation feature. This capability allows operators to:

• Set barrel configurations

• Calculate run length and hole depth

• Track rod counts

With a few simple inputs, this feature reduces manual calculation, removes complexity, and improves accuracy for busy drillers in the field.

“Krux has helped Swick to standardise and streamline daily reporting across all sites, enhance data accuracy through simplified operator workflows, enabling quicker and better informed decision making. Through active collaboration with Krux’s development team—particularly during the refinement of usability and calculation workflows—we’ve ensured the platform meets the needs of our drill crews. This commitment to practical, operator focused innovation shows our clients that Swick is embracing the newest technology not just for its own sake, but to drive meaningful improvements in our processes, processes,” says Chris Loo, Swick Operations Manager, Australia.

Another improvement for Swick was a move to live, online reporting. Supervisors and clients now approve reports in real-time rather than editing and resubmitting older versions. Any corrections can be made instantly eliminating duplication and ensuring everyone is working from the most current information.

This ensures supervisors and clients always have the most current and accurate data available, improving both operational responsiveness and reporting quality.

Results

By implementing Krux, Swick has been able to:

• Standardise and streamline daily reporting across all sites

• Improve data accuracy through simplified, operator friendly workflows

• Enable quicker, better-informed decision making

• Reduce manual calculation and administrative overhead for drillers during busy shifts

• Provide supervisors and clients with real time access to accurate, up to date reports

Together, these outcomes have improved operational responsiveness, reporting quality, and overall confidence in site data.

Looking ahead

The collaboration between Swick and Krux has helped to deliver a smarter, more efficient system that underpins Swick’s strategy for data driven performance and operational excellence.

By embracing technology that delivers practical, measurable improvements, Swick continues to demonstrate leadership in modern drilling operations. Ongoing investment in platforms like Krux ensures Swick remains focused on smarter, safer, and more efficient outcomes for crews and clients alike.
