Aeris Resources
Aeris improved drilling data quality and efficiency by adopting Krux, replacing manual workflows with automated validation, clearer plod approvals, better cost visibility, and major time savings.

About the company
Aeris Resources is a mid-tier Australian copper and gold metal producer. Its copper dominant portfolio comprises two operating assets, multiple development projects and a highly prospective exploration portfolio. At Tritton, where Krux is currently deployed, the geology and technical teams rely heavily on accurate, timely drilling data to inform planning, performance assessment, and operational decision making.
The challenge
Before adopting Krux, Aeris relied on a highly manual and fragmented drilling data workflows. Drilling contractors supplied PDF plods and later CSV files, which had to be imported into acQuire and validated through multiple spreadsheets. This created a system where:
• Data was “a bit of a black box” inside acQuire and difficult for users across teams to access or verify.
• Numerous errors required constant back and forth with supervisors. Duplicate plods were common, creating unnecessary administrative noise.
• There was no formal plod approval workflow, leaving Aeris vulnerable to data quality issues, missing grouting records, and inefficiencies in cost tracking.
• On the geology side, maintaining the automation framework was time intensive due to the variability of the PLOD application and the amount of poor quality data it was allowed to accept.
“It was messy. It was automated, but it was messy,” says Sean Collins, Database Geologist, Aeris Resources.
With underground drilling programs expanding from two to four rigs within months, the existing processes were no longer sustainable.
The solution
Aeris adopted Krux at Tritton in late 2025, initially onboarding three rigs and expanding to four.
The Krux implementation delivered several key improvements:
A modern, transparent plod workflow
The daily plod approval process provides clear oversight and an audit trail.
“The plod approval workflow is necessary—something that we didn’t have before.”
Stronger data validation and fewer spreadsheets
Using Krux eliminates duplicate plods, validates entries, and provides consistent structures for charges, equipment, and activities—allowing Aeris to retire multiple long standing spreadsheets.
“Krux has managed to remove two spreadsheets already… and there’s still some more spreadsheets to go.”
More accessible data
The data visibility and transparency enabled through Krux resolved the limitations of the previous ‘black box’ structure.
“Now we’ve got all the costs fully allocated into each daily plod… so that cost number can be fully tracked day to day.”
API integration enabling automation
Aeris uses Krux’s API extensively, reducing manual data handling and streamlining reporting:
• Pulling hole depths, drill hole diameter intervals, and grouting intervals into their geological database
• Pulling metres drilled into Power Queries within workbooks
• Feeding Krux visuals directly into monthly reporting
“The system requires less maintenance… I’m having to maintain it far less than with the previous plot system.”
Simple onboarding and fast support
Aeris found implementing Krux smooth for their team, with comprehensive documentation and responsive technical guidance. Onboarding was simple across the board.
Results
Time savings
• ~1 hour saved every day for data entry due to reduced data handling and fewer corrections.
• A data collection task was reduced from 45 minutes to 10 minutes with API integration.
• ~3 hours saved every fortnight in billing preparation thanks to pre approved plods and improved charge transparency.
“Krux saves us a significant amount of time every day… and the billing process is a lot quicker now.”
Fewer errors and rework
Krux has significantly reduced plod duplication, manual reconciliation, and email back and forth.
Greater cost control
Aeris now tracks standby, cost per metre, supervisor rates, equipment charges, and other daily costs with full traceability—resulting in improved budgeting accuracy and fewer billing surprises.
Reduced system maintenance
Krux’s integrated workflow means Aeris no longer duplicates drilling data between the contractor system and their geological database.
Looking ahead
Aeris is continuing its growth trajectory, with acquisitions, new deposits, and multi commodity projects underway. As the business expands, Krux will support:
• Greater drilling contractor alignment: “The more drilling contractors using Krux, the better for us.”
• Richer dashboards and analytics: As more Krux data accumulate, Aeris expects to fully leverage performance and cost analytics to optimise decision making.
Ultimately, Krux has already delivered the simplicity, transparency, and reliability Aeris needed.
“It’s simplified things. Everything’s more transparent.” Sean Collins, Database Geologist, Aeris Resources.
