Zenex Drilling
Zenex Drilling streamlined operations by adopting Krux; replacing manual logs and spreadsheets with digital workflows. The platform enabled automated billing, real-time KPI dashboards, and seamless integration with existing tools. Results include 24+ hours saved monthly, faster reporting, improved client transparency, and scalable efficiency across six rigs in Papua New Guinea.

Client: Zenex Drilling
Zenex Drilling is a Papua New Guinea–based exploration and mine drilling company with over 30 years of experience operating in some of the region’s most remote and challenging terrain.
“Using Krux allows us to capture key drilling parameters such as bit performance and core recovery percentage which, when combined with other operational data, helps us drive continuous improvement in both performance and delivery for our clients.”— Blake Lambert, Country Manger, Zenex Drilling
Challenge
Zenex Drilling, a joint venture operating in Papua New Guinea (PNG), faced significant operational inefficiencies due to outdated manual processes. Before adopting Krux, the team relied on handwritten logs, Excel spreadsheets, and manual billing workflows. Their process was time-consuming, error-prone, and created bottlenecks in communication and invoicing. As the company expanded, these inefficiencies became increasingly unsustainable.
The team needed a solution that could streamline operations, improve data accuracy, and scale with their growth.
Solution
In March 2025, Zenex Drilling implemented Krux across its new drilling contracts, later expanding it to additional rigs and legacy projects. Krux was introduced as a value-add to clients, offering streamlined digital logging, automated billing reports, and integrated data dashboards.
Key features that stood out for Zenex included:
- Automated billing workflows that eliminated the need for draft invoices and multiple approval processes.
- Real-time data dashboards for KPI tracking, reducing monthly reporting time from days to hours.
- Integration with existing tools like IMDEXHUB-IQ and acQuire, enabling seamless data flow across existing workflows and platforms.
- Reliable support, including a dedicated communications group and a responsive customer success team.
Results
The impact of Krux on Zenex Drilling’s operations has been transformative:
- 24+ hours of admin time saved per month, including at least 3 hours per rig on invoicing alone.
- Two-thirds reduction in internal communication around billing and approvals.
- Monthly KPI reporting time cut from 2–3 days to just 6 hours, with further improvements expected.
- Improved client satisfaction, with clients proactively engaging with the platform and appreciating the transparency and efficiency.
- Scalable implementation, with Krux now running across six rigs and planned for future expansion.
“It saves [the team] at least three hours per rig a month just on invoicing. Admin-wise, we’re saving at least 24 hours of work across the board,” says Blake. “I reckon it saves me alone two days a month just preparing for KPI meetings. Now I can pull all the data from the dashboard in six hours instead of spending days in Excel.”
Blake also praised the support from the Krux team:
“The Krux team are always available, always willing to answer a quick message or jump on a call.”
Looking Ahead
Zenex Drilling continues to grow, with a focus on creating stable employment for PNG locals and expanding its rig fleet. Krux is now a core part of their operational toolkit, helping them scale efficiently while maintaining high standards of service and accountability.
“We went from two rigs to six this year, and we’re bringing Krux with us to every new project. It just makes sense.”
